Application Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Evaluate applications and assign the appropriate 6R treatment.

• Create target-state application architecture on Azure and AWS.

• Implement well-architected principles focused on reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness.

• Establish application DNS architecture and manage name resolution.

• Define API endpoint design, integration methods, and access patterns.

• Develop application data architecture and manage data stores.

• Design infrastructure as code using Ansible, Terraform, and CloudFormation.

• Create containerized platforms and deployment strategies.

• Define DevOps and DevSecOps pipelines along with CI/CD tooling.

• Implement FinOps practices to optimize application costs.

• Lead the rationalization of applications throughout the estate.

• Produce and review high-level and low-level designs with client architects.

• Design application, integration, and cloud architecture for carve-out projects.

• Take ownership of the target-state design and technical strategy for migrating applications from on-premises to Azure or other platforms.

• Re-architect applications where necessary due to separation requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of relevant experience in application and cloud architecture.

• At least three successful application migrations from on-premises to Azure.

• Strong understanding of the 6Rs and well-architected frameworks.

• Solid grasp of FinOps and cloud cost management principles.

• Proficient in Ansible, Terraform, and CloudFormation.

• Familiar with Azure Resource Manager (ARM and Bicep) and AWS equivalents, utilizing current versions.

• Experience with a minimum of two cloud providers (Azure and AWS).

• Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration platforms.

• Deep understanding of DevOps, DevSecOps, and CI/CD pipelines, including source control tools.

• Experience with application DNS architectures.

• Proven experience in application rationalization.

• Skilled in designing and securing API endpoints.

• Experience with application data architecture and design.

• Understanding of hyper-converged infrastructure.

• Exposure to at least two OEMs or two cloud providers in each technology area.

• Excellent communication skills, with prior experience collaborating with clients in the UK and EU.

• Willingness to travel as needed and work in the client’s time zone.

• Background in infrastructure in addition to the aforementioned specialism.

• Previous experience in IT consolidations, mergers, demergers, and carve-outs is mandatory.

• Relevant professional certifications are strongly recommended.
