
Apparel Technical Designer – Women's Athleisure, Outerwear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of athleisure fit, fabric, and garment construction, ensuring technical execution aligns with the Comfrt aesthetic, customer expectations, and premium quality standards.
• Perform seasonal competitive fit benchmarking to identify evolving fit trends, silhouette changes, and best-in-class standards within the market.
• Collaborate closely with Design and Product teams to ensure that fit evolves with the brand, remains relevant to customers, and provides a premium product experience.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive tech packs that include technical flat sketches, construction details, BOMs, measurement specifications, POM diagrams, grading specifications, and details on trim and artwork placement.
• Ensure all tech packs are precise, production-ready, and updated throughout all stages of development.
• Oversee the fit preparation and execution process, which includes sourcing fit models, establishing fit schedules, preparing fit samples and lists, measuring garments, and conducting fit sessions.
• Analyze fit issues and provide recommendations for pattern corrections and construction enhancements.
• Submit clear, concise, and actionable fit comments to both overseas and domestic vendors, ensuring prompt feedback to support development calendar deadlines.
• Establish and uphold standardized fit processes, protocols, and standards across all Women's categories to guarantee consistency, efficiency, and accuracy.
• Maintain a strong comprehension of fabric behavior, including shrinkage, stretch and recovery, wash impact, and garment balance and fit consistency.
• Address construction and production challenges in collaboration with factories and cross-functional teams.
• Review and approve Proto, Fit, PP, TOP, and bulk production samples.
• Coordinate the wear testing process, which involves requesting and preparing samples, shipping wear test packages, and compiling and analyzing feedback.
• Work closely with QA teams to enhance product consistency, define tolerances, and minimize quality issues.
• Serve as the technical point of contact for overseas and domestic vendors, fostering strong relationships to improve communication, speed, and sample execution.
• Collaborate extensively with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, Production, QA, and Fabric teams.
• Uphold design intent while balancing manufacturability, quality, cost, and speed to market.
• Update WIP reports and maintain organization throughout all stages of development.
• Monitor and follow up on samples, approvals, and vendor deadlines.
• Assist the Technical Design Manager and Product Development team with shifting priorities and urgent business needs.
• Contribute to the enhancement of technical design processes, organization, and workflow efficiencies.
• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Production, Technical Design, or a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in Technical Design within the apparel industry.
• Experience in activewear, fleece, knits, lounge, and sleepwear categories is preferred.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, grading, and pattern corrections.
• Comprehensive fabric knowledge, including stretch, shrinkage, recovery, drape, and wash behavior.
• Proficient in tech packs, spec sheets, grading, and sample management.
• Required proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Google Drive is also expected.
• Experience with PLM systems is preferred; knowledge of CLO 3D or AI pattern software is a plus.
• Previous experience in a remote or hybrid work environment is preferred.
