This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Design, implement, and optimize fraud detection mechanisms across authentication, trading, cryptocurrency, and administrative workflows (e.g., account takeovers, session exploitation, high-risk account modifications), while deploying preventive strategies such as step-up authentication, velocity checks, and risk-based friction.
• Perform comprehensive investigations utilizing logs, SIEM, and data warehouse tools to reconstruct incident timelines, document findings for compliance, legal, and regulatory reviews, and translate recurring patterns into playbooks and engineering specifications.
• Establish telemetry requirements, identify deficiencies in audit logging and event schemas, and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure the accurate capture and correlation of fraud-related data.
• Develop advanced SQL and analytical pipelines, create fraud detection models and scoring systems, and continuously monitor precision, recall, and model drift to guarantee ongoing effectiveness and explainability.
• Evaluate trading platform workflows for potential vulnerabilities, identify abuse patterns (e.g., restriction circumvention, coordinated activities), and work together on remediation strategies.
• Assess and enhance controls related to cryptocurrency treasury and custody operations, identify wallet and approval workflow abuses, and support governance and transaction authorization processes.
• Create alerting and triage workflows, define severity and routing criteria, maintain Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and dashboards, and drive post-incident enhancements to fortify controls and telemetry.
• Over 5 years of experience in antifraud, fraud detection, security investigations, abuse prevention, or related roles in fintech, brokerage, payments, cryptocurrency, or other high-risk online environments.
• In-depth knowledge of authentication, session management, access control, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and common account takeover techniques.
• Proven experience investigating fraud or security incidents using various data sources, including logs, transactional data, and audit trails.
• Capability to detect and analyze fraud patterns such as account compromises, suspicious sessions, insider misuse, social engineering consequences, and business logic exploitation.
• Proficient in SQL and data analysis; able to work with large datasets to identify anomalies, patterns, and related entities.
• Familiarity with SIEM, log management, or similar analytical platforms.
• Practical experience in building or refining fraud detection rules, risk scoring, alerting logic, or investigative workflows.
• Experience with statistical methods or machine learning for fraud or anomaly detection.
• Strong scripting and automation skills for data analysis, integrations, and prototyping.
• Ability to work autonomously and deliver effective controls from analysis through to implementation.
• Solid understanding of financial platforms, trading lifecycles, and operational risk concepts.
• Awareness of cryptocurrency-related fraud risks, including exchange integrations, wallet operations, and approval workflows.
