📋 Description

• Conduct analysis and provide technical support for Workday Payroll Systems.

• Act as a subject matter expert with a focus on both functional and technical aspects of the Workday Payroll module.

• Assist in the configuration of Workday Payroll, addressing earnings, deductions, pay components, pay groups, payroll inputs, calculations, retro pay, tax setup, garnishments, direct deposit, and payroll business processes.

• Investigate complex issues in Workday Payroll, determining root causes linked to configuration, data, integrations, business processes, upstream HR data, time inputs, absence data, benefit deductions, tax elections, or payroll calculations.

• Troubleshoot and resolve payroll-related issues in real-time during active payroll cycles, including urgent matters that may impact payroll accuracy, timeliness, or compliance.

• Collaborate with HRIS, IT, Payroll, Benefits, HR Operations, Finance, Accounting, and external vendors to design, test, and implement payroll system solutions.

• Create, maintain, and validate various Workday payroll reports, audit reports, dashboards, exception reports, calculated fields, and ad hoc payroll data outputs.

• Assist with Workday EIBs, payroll data loads, mass updates, and associated validation tasks.

• Facilitate payroll-related integrations, vendor files, interface monitoring, error resolution, and data reconciliation.

• Engage in Workday release management activities, including impact assessments, regression testing, UAT, configuration testing, and post-release validation.

• Support related Workday modules that influence payroll, such as Time Tracking, Absence, Benefits, Core HCM, Compensation, and Finance/Accounting integrations.

• Convert payroll requirements into system requirements, test scripts, reporting needs, control points, and process documentation.

• Identify opportunities to enhance automation, minimize manual payroll intervention, strengthen controls, improve reporting, and boost payroll accuracy.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation for payroll configuration, system processes, testing outcomes, issue resolution, controls, and standard operating procedures.

• Assist with payroll-related projects including acquisitions, new entity setups, new state/province configurations, pay group adjustments, policy revisions, payroll process redesign, and Workday enhancements.

• This role may also provide payroll analyst support as required.


⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in payroll, HRIS, payroll systems, or Workday Payroll.

• Hands-on experience with the Workday Payroll module is essential.

• Previous support experience in Workday Payroll in a functional, analytical, or technical role.

• Familiarity with U.S. and Canadian payroll systems, with a strong capability to support Canadian payroll requirements if primarily U.S.-based.

• Experience managing payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employee groups.

• Proven experience in a high-volume payroll setting.

• Background in multi-state payroll and complex organizational structures.

• Strong grasp of payroll concepts, including earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, retro pay, benefit deductions, direct deposits, off-cycle payrolls, and termination pay.

• Ability to diagnose and resolve payroll-impacting issues during processing cycles in real time.

• Experience in analyzing payroll results, investigating discrepancies, validating gross-to-net calculations, and supporting payroll audits.

• Proficiency in creating, running, validating, or maintaining Workday payroll reports or audit reports.

• Strong Excel skills, including the use of pivot tables, lookups, formulas, reconciliations, and large data analysis.

• Ability to troubleshoot payroll system issues and differentiate between configuration, data, integration, upstream HR data, and processing issues.

• Excellent analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to work independently as a technical contributor while collaborating cross-functionally with Payroll, HRIS, HR, Benefits, Finance, Accounting, IT, and vendors.

• High attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive employee and payroll information.
