• Provide outstanding Special Authorization services to our clients.
• Evaluate and make decisions on Special Authorization applications in accordance with established protocols.
• Input data into Alberta Blue Cross® computer systems related to Special Authorization requests.
• Draft correspondence to inform prescribers and subscribers of the outcomes.
• Manage electronic and telephone inquiries from both internal and external customers.
• Availability to work occasional weekdays until 5:00 pm, as well as weekends and statutory holidays on a rotational basis.
• Post-secondary education in health services or a medical field (such as Pharmacy Technician diploma or Medical Office Administration certificate/diploma) or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of medical terminology and familiarity with pharmaceutical names.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in computer applications, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle the demands of heavy workloads and frequent changes.
