Aircraft Certification Engineer – Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Offer an expert-level understanding of aircraft systems, encompassing Environmental Control (ECS), Fire Protection, and Auxiliary/Emergency Power.

β€’ Act as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for aircraft certification, ensuring adherence to FAA regulations and MIL-HDBK-516C airworthiness standards.

β€’ Create, assess, and implement certification plans for MCDA programs.

β€’ Collaborate with military airworthiness authorities and DER/DAR representatives to facilitate approval processes.

β€’ Recognize and address certification discrepancies that arise from the interaction between civil and military airworthiness standards.

β€’ Guide junior engineers and assist in the enhancement of internal certification methodologies, tools, and best practices.

β€’ Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ A bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field.

β€’ Over 15 years of experience in aircraft certification pertaining to aircraft systems, with direct participation in FAA type certification or supplemental type certificate (STC) initiatives.

β€’ Previous experience with military commercial derivative aircraft programs is preferred.

β€’ Capability to pass a Tier 1 (minimum) investigation for employment on Department of Defense contracts.

β€’ An existing security clearance is preferred.

β€’ FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) authorization in one or more disciplines is preferred.

β€’ Must possess a comprehensive understanding of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14CFR - particularly Chapter I, Part 25), as it relates to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulatory procedures and the STC process.

β€’ Requires experience in program management, strong communication skills, and a proven ability to coordinate certification programs for alterations and modifications.

β€’ Should have experience in reviewing certification documentation such as ICAs, Ground/Flight Test Plans, Compliance Checklists, Project Specific Certification Plans, etc.


🏝️ Benefits

β€’ Monthly travel to Dayton, OH is required, lasting a minimum of 3-4 days per trip. All travel expenses are covered (including flights, hotel, rental car, GSA per diem, etc.). Furthermore, travel locations and frequency may change with prior notice.
