AI Workflow Engineer – Automation Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain AI-driven workflow orchestration systems across legal and operational domains.

• Create integrations among AI platforms, CRMs, document automation systems, client portals, payment solutions, and internal operational tools.

• Construct automation pipelines and event-driven workflows that facilitate legal intake, document generation, communications, workflow routing, and escalation procedures.

• Convert legal workflows into scalable technical architectures working alongside Legal Knowledge Engineers and Product Managers.

• Execute API integrations between third-party platforms and internal systems.

• Develop retrieval, prompt orchestration, and workflow execution systems that support AI agents and AI-assisted processes.

• Contribute to the design of scalable architectures for AI-enhanced client experiences and internal operational systems.

• Oversee workflow reliability, system performance, automation efficiency, and operational scalability.

• Diagnose automation failures, workflow bottlenecks, and integration challenges.

• Engage in security, governance, auditability, and compliance planning concerning AI workflows.

• Document workflow architectures, system logic, integration maps, and operational standards.

• Assess emerging automation technologies, orchestration frameworks, and AI infrastructure tools.

• Collaborate with AI leadership, product teams, attorneys, developers, and operational staff to create AI-native legal service systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience in software engineering, computer science, information systems, automation engineering, or a similar field.

• Extensive experience in workflow automation, systems integration, software engineering, AI implementation, or automation architecture.

• Proficient in production-level Python.

• Strong software engineering practices, including testing, code reviews, version control, and CI/CD.

• Experience in designing, building, and optimizing AI agent workflows with orchestration frameworks like LangGraph and LangChain.

• Familiarity with vector retrieval and LLM observability platforms such as LangFuse/LangSmith.

• Proficient in API and webhook integrations.

• Solid understanding of APIs, workflow orchestration, event-driven systems, and systems integration.

• Experience with automation platforms, orchestration tools, or AI infrastructure frameworks.

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and systems-thinking skills.

• Ability to collaborate across functions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Exceptional organizational and communication abilities.

• Capacity to manage multiple complex projects in dynamic environments.

• Preferred: experience with generative AI systems, OpenAI, Anthropic, LlamaIndex, vector databases, CRM systems, document automation tools, client portals, SaaS platforms, regulated industries, cloud infrastructure, AI governance, auditability, data security, confidentiality, conversational systems, or agent architectures.

• Availability to occasionally work evenings or adjusted hours for onboarding, offboarding, or urgent operational needs.
