This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to VA leadership and program stakeholders on the implementation of AI tools in clinical, administrative, and business healthcare operations.

• Create and enhance enterprise AI governance policies, standards, and playbooks that are in accordance with VA directives, federal AI guidance, and responsible AI principles.

• Evaluate and communicate AI risks and mitigation strategies related to bias, explainability, data privacy, model drift, and patient safety.

• Offer insights on the AI product lifecycle management, covering requirements, vendor assessments, pilot design, performance tracking, and decommissioning processes.

• Perform landscape analyses and environmental scans of emerging AI technologies, vendors, and the best practices within the federal or industry standards.

• Prepare and present briefings, white papers, decision memos, and other written recommendations tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Collaborate with VA stakeholders, program offices, multidisciplinary teams, senior VA executives, and contracting officers.


⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in developing, deploying, or utilizing AI/ML tools in an operational or enterprise context.

• Experience in healthcare operations that aligns strongly with program requirements.

• Background in supporting federal agency clients, healthcare organizations, or government-related programs.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential.

• Ability to successfully pass a VA background investigation (Tier 1 / MBI or higher as required).

• Competence to operate within VA network and data environments.

• Must possess authorization to work in the United States.

• Familiarity with AI risk frameworks such as NIST AI RMF and FDA AI/ML SaMD guidance.

• Understanding of enterprise AI strategy and organizational change management related to AI tool adoption.

• Equivalent professional experience, certifications, or demonstrated applied expertise may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

• Desired: Experience with AI governance or responsible AI initiatives in a federal health agency.

• Desired: Knowledge of VA AI and data programs, including NAII and VHA Diffusion Ecosystem.

• Desired: Awareness of HIPAA, 38 U.S.C., FDA SaMD, FAR/DFARS, and AI-related contract stipulations.

• Desired: Experience in facilitating organizational change management and stakeholder engagement.

• Desired: Background in procuring or assessing AI vendor solutions in a federal acquisition setting.
