This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Identify high-impact opportunities: Conduct listening tours and current-state evaluations across various functions. Prioritize workflows where AI can create significant benefits, balancing the potential impact with feasibility, and concentrate on opportunities that can effectively alter the revenue/operating expense curve.
• Prototype and validate: Transform prioritized use cases from concept to functional prototype — including internal automation workflows, reusable prompt systems and templates, AI-driven tools and assistants, and initial workflow integrations — to assess whether an opportunity merits broader investment.
• Collaborate across the organization: Engage directly with functional leaders, the AI Enablement Council, and AI Ambassadors to comprehend genuine workflow requirements, confirm selected opportunities, and develop the business justification and evidence needed to guide investment choices.
• Build responsibly: Create and evaluate using authorized tools and established legal and security review processes. Validate outputs, ensure thorough human oversight, and uphold stringent data hygiene. No AI tool will utilize Chainguard, customer, or personal data until it passes the review.
• Document and share: Record what you have developed, the issues it addresses, and the insights gained. Present your work throughout the company via Builder Hours, demonstrations, and showcases, while bringing recurring technical needs and reuse opportunities to the attention of the AI Enablement Council.
• Set the benchmark for internal AI development: Exemplify responsible, high-quality AI creation so that your prototypes can be transferred, scaled, and maintained by the functional experts who manage the workflow.
• Experience: At least 4 years of experience in software development, automation, or internal tooling, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to independently navigate ambiguous, zero-to-one projects.
• Applied AI tools: Practical experience utilizing AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) in real-world applications, and developing on top of LLM APIs — including tool/function calling, agents, prompt and context engineering, RAG, and patterns such as MCP.
• Builder and integrator: Proficient in connecting APIs, automations, and integrations across the SaaS platforms the company utilizes (e.g., Slack, Google Workspace, GitHub, Linear) to create dependable internal tools and prototypes.
• Product and consulting acumen: Comfortable engaging with non-technical stakeholders, framing issues, assessing impact, and prioritizing based on impact and feasibility — effectively translating vague requirements into deliverable prototypes.
• Development skills: Proficient in at least one programming language, with a strong preference for Go and/or Python.
• Responsible-use mindset: Adheres to security, legal, and data-handling protocols, viewing responsible AI usage as integral to performing well in the role.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills, fluency in English, and the ability to operate autonomously within a remote, globally distributed team — demonstrating initiative and proactively seeking assistance when necessary.
• Flexible & Remote-First Culture: Work remotely with opportunities for team meetups, bi-annual destination summits, and a monthly stipend for coworking spaces, phone, and internet expenses.
• Our Approach to Equity: Receive stock options upon hiring and promotion. Additionally, you can take part in secondary offerings and have a generous 10 years to exercise your options (yes, that’s correct: 10 years!).
• 100% Covered Health Insurance: We fully cover your health, vision, and dental insurance premiums for you and your dependents. There are no deductions from your paycheck.
• ∞ Flexible Time Off: Take the time you need — to perform at your best, it’s essential to recharge and reset.
• 18 Weeks Paid Parental Leave: We provide 18 weeks for birthing parents and 12 weeks for non-birthing parents, with the flexibility to use it all at once or spread it throughout your child's first year.
