AI Product Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the CEO to determine product direction, set priorities, outline assumptions, and devise implementable plans.

• Design and develop AI features comprehensively, overseeing everything from prompts and agents to retrieval and user experience.

• Implement evaluation and testing methods to assess and enhance the quality of AI.

• Deliver full-stack features that encompass front end, back end, and cloud deployment.

• Work alongside engineers by providing context and collaborating on problem-solving.

• Assist the team in maximizing the benefits derived from AI tools.

• Clearly and promptly communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs.

• Prioritize privacy and safety in development, ensuring compliance with FERPA/COPPA regulations.

• Gain an understanding of the product, teachers, and team, and deliver an initial improvement within the first 30 days.

• Take ownership of a significant aspect of the AI experience and implement enhancements by 60 days.

• Collaborate with the CEO to influence the product roadmap within 90 days.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience in full-stack software engineering.

• Proficiency in React/TypeScript for front-end development.

• Experience with back-end technologies such as Node.js or Python.

• Familiarity with AWS.

• Proven experience in building and deploying at least one production LLM application utilized by end users.

• Practical knowledge of prompt and agent design, RAG (embeddings, vector search, re-ranking), and assessing LLM output quality.

• Daily engagement with AI tools.

• Experience in owning a product area or influencing product decisions.

• A genuine product-oriented mindset with an interest in teachers and users.

• A collaborative approach, capable of managing diverse perspectives with diplomacy.

• Self-motivated and able to progress work with minimal supervision.

• Proficient in written and spoken English.

• Comfortable collaborating with both technical and non-technical colleagues across UK and US time zones.

• Applicants must possess the right to work in India; visa sponsorship is not offered.

• Bonus: Experience in ed-tech or early childhood education; familiarity with FERPA/COPPA; experience in early-stage startups.
