AI Product Engineer

Posted Jul 28

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Take full ownership of AI product development from inception to production during client engagements.

β€’ Determine what to develop and how: collect requirements, critically evaluate stakeholder requests, and prioritize essential tasks.

β€’ Rapidly prototype using LLMs and then transition to production by implementing data pipelines, integrations, and evaluations that enhance reliability.

β€’ Conduct the necessary data engineering tasks, including data ingestion, modeling, and ETL processes.

β€’ Act as the main technical liaison for clients, engaging with their engineers and providing clarity to their executives.

β€’ Implement tracking for your developments (analytics, funnel metrics, error analysis) and refine based on actual usage rather than assumptions.

β€’ Manage reliability, security, and cost, including authentication, handling of secrets, PII management, and avoiding excessive cloud expenses.

β€’ Document your insights for the team, clients, and for public sharing.

⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Solid engineering foundations: programming, debugging, and system design. You consider scenarios beyond the ideal outcomes.

β€’ Experience shipping a tangible product using an LLM that received actual usage, preferably including error analysis and evaluations of your outputs.

β€’ Proficient in data engineering: data modeling and architecture, along with ETL/pipeline experience (such as Airflow, Dagster, Inngest, Prefect, or similar tools).

β€’ Understanding of web and infrastructure basics: authentication, web security, identifying slow queries (like N+1, unnecessary joins), CI/CD, and cost-effective deployment on a major cloud platform.

β€’ Regularly utilize modern AI tools (e.g., Claude Code) in your daily work, with tailored workflows.

β€’ High level of agency: you define ambiguous challenges, articulate your assumptions, and proactively drive work forward without needing management oversight.

β€’ Strong writing skills and a high say-do ratio; you can distill a lengthy, rambling client discussion into a concise set of actionable tickets.

🏝️ Benefits

β€’ Fully remote work environment. Our team is spread across North America and internationally, primarily within overlapping North American time zones. You can work when and where you prefer, as long as the tasks are completed.

β€’ Compensation is adjusted based on your location and level of seniority - we will discuss compensation and align on specifics early in the process.
