AI Integration and Data Engineer – Master-Level Internship

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Establish connections with client systems — including databases, APIs, CRMs, and various SaaS tools — to reliably transfer data in and out.

• Extract, cleanse, transform, and relocate data to ensure it is organized and usable for AI functionalities, such as retrieval and agentic workflows.

• Develop and maintain data pipelines that supply the Applied AI Engineer’s RAG and agent systems with accurate, up-to-date information.

• Utilize AI coding tools to expedite integration tasks while exercising sound engineering judgment for the unique and complex aspects that these tools may not address effectively.

• Navigate the practical challenges of client data, including undocumented schemas, inconsistent formats, incomplete records, and access limitations.

• Implement best practices for data handling, security, and privacy throughout the process, particularly concerning client data.

• Collaborate with the Builder and the Applied AI Engineer to ensure seamless data flow from start to finish, documenting integrations and pipelines in Notion for future reference and maintenance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Master’s program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

• Strong foundation in back-end development and data principles: proficient in Python and/or Node.js, with a solid understanding of SQL and relational databases.

• Proven experience using AI coding tools (such as Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code, Windsurf, or similar) as an integral part of your development process.

• Practical experience in transferring data between systems — including working with APIs, constructing basic pipelines, or cleaning and transforming actual datasets.

• Capability to read, assess, and enhance AI-generated code instead of accepting it uncritically, especially regarding integration logic.

• Knowledge of databases, APIs, and handling asynchronous requests.

• Comfort in dealing with incomplete, disorganized, or undocumented data, while making logical assumptions.

• Understanding of data security and privacy best practices.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities within a cross-functional team setting.
