AI Engineering Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and implement production-ready end-to-end AI solutions, which encompass workflow automation agents, RAG pipelines, and copilots integrated within business processes, as well as LLM-driven applications.

• Convert business requirements into technical designs and functional products to deliver impactful, usable solutions rather than mere proofs of concept.

• Architect and execute AI-assisted data workflows and agentic systems.

• Construct and sustain LLM-enabled services, prompt frameworks, and coding standards.

• Create semantic/contextual layers to ensure that AI outputs align with business logic and data models.

• Design multi-agent workflows that include human-in-the-loop controls.

• Make practical trade-offs to expedite delivery while preserving long-term sustainability.

• Develop scalable patterns for prompt design and orchestration, agent-based workflows, and API integrations and data access.

• Guide architecture decisions for AI systems by balancing speed, security, scalability, maintainability, and cost.

• Assist in establishing engineering standards and best practices for applied AI throughout the organization.

• Create reusable components, frameworks, and templates to expedite AI development.

• Integrate AI automation with enterprise systems, APIs, and data platforms.

• Assess and recommend tools across the stack (models, frameworks, vector stores, orchestration layers).

• Define data requirements and, when necessary, build or enhance data pipelines to ensure AI systems have reliable, production-ready inputs.

• Design and implement evaluation frameworks to define and monitor AI system performance, including task success, accuracy, latency, cost, and business impact; establish feedback loops to continuously enhance quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness in production environments.

• Build safeguards and validation layers to minimize hallucinations, enforce structured outputs, and ensure safe system behavior.

• Establish monitoring and observability across AI systems (performance, usage, cost, latency, failure modes).

• Implement contemporary engineering practices including CI/CD, versioning, rollback strategies, and automated testing.

• Ensure that solutions comply with security, governance, and compliance requirements in a regulated setting.

• Collaborate with business leaders, operations & service teams, and product stakeholders to shape use cases and transform them into operational solutions.

• Work closely with AI Enablement to refine workflows and enhance adoption.

• Drive rapid iteration cycles, swiftly transitioning from concept to functional solution to scaled implementation; iterate solutions based on genuine user feedback and usage trends.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7-10+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or AI/LLM.

• Practical experience in building and deploying production AI systems.

• Hands-on experience in developing applications utilizing LLMs and contemporary AI tools.

• Proficiency with cloud platforms (preferably Azure), Python, APIs, containerization, and CI/CD methodologies.

• Experience in creating RAG pipelines, agent-based workflows, or orchestration layers.

• Familiarity with vector databases, embedding pipelines, and retrieval systems.

• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on practical, efficient solutions; ability to navigate in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
