This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.
• Create and develop AI-enhanced features for a variety of educational products, ranging from assessments to tutoring solutions.
• Collaborate with educational partners and internal teams to grasp assessment methodologies, quality standards, and practical limitations.
• Construct evaluation strategies that assess output quality, consistency, utility, and potential failure modes.
• Formulate workflows for retrieval, prompt management, orchestration, and structured output when necessary.
• Incorporate LLM APIs, AI services, and educational data into dependable product functionalities.
• Design effective human review, control, and escalation processes for AI-assisted decision-making.
• Enhance the reliability, latency, cost-effectiveness, and quality of AI services in a production environment.
• Rapidly prototype, evaluate them against actual educational scenarios, and implement successful methods into production.
• Establish appropriate guardrails, monitoring, and audit mechanisms for AI outputs.
• Collaborate with Backend Engineers on service architecture, data management, integrations, and scalability.
• Partner with Product Engineers to ensure that AI features are clear, useful, and reliable for both teachers and students.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools effectively while upholding strong engineering judgment, testing, privacy, and security standards.
• Produce clean, well-tested, and maintainable code.
• Over 2 years of professional experience in data science, applied AI, or machine learning engineering.
• Proficient in developing AI-enhanced features, prototypes, or production applications utilizing LLM APIs or similar AI services.
• Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or comparable languages.
• Familiarity with prompt design, structured outputs, retrieval workflows, AI orchestration, or agentic processes.
• Experience in assessing AI quality, reliability, and safety beyond informal manual evaluations.
• Comprehensive understanding of APIs, databases, cloud services, and production software architecture.
• Ability to balance innovation with disciplined engineering practices, testing, privacy, and security standards.
• A proactive approach to exploring new methodologies, testing assumptions, and enhancing product quality.
• Comfortable engaging with non-technical stakeholders and educational partners to uncover the underlying issues of feature requests.
• Strong skills in ownership, debugging, and problem-solving.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Fully remote position, available to residents of Europe.
