This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with teams across Upstream to gain insights into workflows, undocumented processes, and manual tasks.
• Identify, scope, and prioritize opportunities for AI and automation based on their impact, feasibility, adoption potential, and associated risks.
• Convert vague business challenges into use cases, solution hypotheses, and actionable plans.
• Assess when AI is suitable and when simpler process modifications or existing tools would be more effective.
• Design, build, test, and deploy AI-enabled solutions, including prompts, skills, agents, automations, and lightweight applications.
• Rapidly prototype, collect user feedback, and iterate based on actual usage.
• Create and maintain reusable libraries of prompts, skills, templates, and workflow components.
• Collaborate with Data, Analytics, and Technology teams to transition validated prototypes into production-ready solutions.
• Document solution requirements, configurations, procedures, and anticipated outcomes.
• Develop and conduct AI training, workshops, office hours, self-paced content, and role-specific guidance.
• Create and maintain documentation, quick-start guides, best practices, and resources for the Upstream AI Hub.
• Foster a network of AI champions across various departments.
• Highlight and share quantified successes, time savings, workflow enhancements, and lessons learned.
• Assist in change management for new AI tools and working methods.
• Act as Upstream's internal subject matter expert on AI and automation.
• Evaluate AI tools, platforms, and connectors, providing recommendations for adoption, piloting, or rejection.
• Collaborate on license management, provisioning, vendor assessment, cost tracking, and renewal planning.
• Establish and uphold guidelines for data privacy, PHI, sensitive-data handling, appropriate usage, and human review.
• Define and monitor metrics related to time savings, quality enhancements, usage, and adoption, reporting progress to leadership.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
• Over 5 years of experience in analytics, technology, internal tools, business process enhancement, automation, consulting, or a closely related area.
• Practical experience in delivering AI or automation solutions within a business environment.
• Proficiency in modern AI tools, including LLM platforms such as Claude or ChatGPT, prompt and skill development, agentic workflows, and automation or low-code/no-code platforms.
• Proven ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into effective, practical solutions.
• Experience in developing and delivering training, documentation, or enablement initiatives.
• Comfort in handling structured and unstructured data across multiple systems.
• Proficiency in SQL or equivalent for independent investigation and validation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical colleagues and present clearly to senior leadership.
• Capability to build trust and influence without direct authority.
• Self-motivated and highly organized, able to manage several concurrent initiatives.
• Ability to identify and utilize generative AI tools while ensuring human checkpoints are maintained.
• Skilled in prompt engineering and critical assessment of AI-generated content.
• Foundational knowledge of AI ethics, data privacy, bias acknowledgment, and responsible use of company information.
• Capacity to remain focused, adaptable, and solution-oriented in the face of challenges and uncertainty.
• Comfortable participating in on-camera meetings.
• Willingness to attend work-related in-person meetings and events as necessary.
