AI & Data Governance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Oversee AI readiness evaluations and governance initiatives for mid-sized enterprises.

• Conduct workshops for executives and stakeholders centered on AI integration, governance, security, and business transformation.

• Create AI governance roadmaps, policies, standards, and operational models.

• Offer advice on responsible AI utilization, risk management, compliance, and change management within organizations.

• Identify approved AI use cases and implement controls for emerging AI technologies.

• Design and deploy Microsoft Purview solutions, encompassing DLP, Information Protection and Sensitivity Labels, DSPM, Insider Risk Management, Compliance Manager, eDiscovery and Audit, and Data Lifecycle Management.

• Perform data governance evaluations and assist clients in establishing governance programs.

• Develop data classification strategies and governance standards.

• Detect and mitigate oversharing, excessive permissions, and risks related to AI data exposure.

• Establish governance practices for both structured and unstructured data across Microsoft 365, Azure, and additional platforms.

• Lead engagements related to Microsoft 365 Copilot readiness and adoption.

• Evaluate data security risks tied to Copilot deployment.

• Formulate governance frameworks for Copilot, Copilot Studio, and AI agents.

• Create controls for prompt security, data protection, retention, auditing, and monitoring.

• Support clients in AI policy formulation, user training, and establishing AI acceptable-use programs.

• Conduct evaluations of shadow AI usage and unauthorized AI services.

• Facilitate discovery workshops and requirements-gathering sessions.

• Generate assessment reports, implementation strategies, architectural diagrams, and executive presentations.

• Act as a trusted advisor for business and technology leadership teams.

• Provide strategic recommendations and guidance on technical implementation.

• Collaborate with internal engineering teams to ensure effective project delivery.

• Lead client engagements, develop repeatable service offerings, and contribute to Cyber Advisors' AI & Data Governance practice.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Purview.

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Information Protection, Microsoft Purview DLP, compliance and risk management, data classification and labeling, records and retention management, and eDiscovery and Audit.

• Experience in implementing Microsoft 365 security and governance controls.

• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 Copilot, governance for Copilot, evaluations for Copilot readiness, AI risk management, and data governance frameworks.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Entra ID, SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online, and the security architecture of Microsoft 365.

• Understanding of regulatory and security frameworks including GLBA, FFIEC, HIPAA, SOX, CJIS, CMMC, and NIST.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong abilities in documentation and presentation.

• Experience leading discussions at the executive level and with stakeholders.

• Capacity to translate technical concepts into business-oriented outcomes.

• Experience in creating governance documentation, standards, policies, and assessment reports.

• Proven track record of leading projects independently.

• Preferred: Experience with Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, or Microsoft Fabric.

• Preferred: Familiarity with AI governance platforms and frameworks.

• Preferred: Knowledge of enterprise AI platforms such as Anthropic Claude, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, and others.

• Preferred: Understanding of AI risk management frameworks like the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO/IEC 42001, and Microsoft Responsible AI principles.

• Preferred: Experience in developing AI governance programs from inception.

• Preferred: Background in consulting or professional services.

• Preferred certifications: SC-400, SC-100, SC-200, SC-300, AZ-305, and Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert.
