AI Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Design and develop multi-agent AI systems that incorporate LLMs for customer-oriented workflows including email triage, refund processing, escalations, and voice bot interactions.

• Create and manage automation workflows using N8N.

• Integrate voice AI platforms with customized prompt logic to enhance call bot behavior, customer interaction, and multi-step processes.

• Classify and prioritize automation opportunities based on business significance, technical complexity, and urgency.

• Ensure that automated workflows comply with communication standards, SLA requirements, tone consistency, and operational resilience.

• Define, document, and test REST APIs that integrate CRMs, Freshdesk, and internal systems across various product versions.

• Evaluate integration challenges by analyzing API responses, logs, configurations, and system outputs.

• Develop and maintain API test suites in Postman and N8N, covering edge cases and regression scenarios.

• Work collaboratively with Development, Product, QA, technical leads, and support operations to replicate, diagnose, and escalate issues.

• Create and refine LLM prompts to ensure structured outputs, JSON schema compliance, classification, sentiment analysis, and application reference extraction.

• Troubleshoot and enhance AI pipeline outputs and design dependable agent orchestration workflows.

• Identify inefficiencies in workflows and automation prospects, recommending preventive or optimization measures.

• Contribute to technical documentation, API specifications, runbooks, and workflow guides.

• Provide support for onboarding and skill enhancement on automation tools, AI systems, and integration methodologies.

• Collaborate on projects that improve customer experience and optimize operational workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in AI automation engineering, backend integration, or technical roles within digital or SaaS environments.

• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining automation workflows using N8N or similar platforms, such as Zapier or Make.

• Practical experience with REST API design, integration, testing, and documentation.

• Strong grasp of REST API design principles, HTTP semantics, status codes, request/response structuring, and versioning.

• Expertise in N8N, including webhook debugging, dynamic base URL configuration, and AI node integration.

• Familiarity with customer support platforms such as Zendesk, HelpScout, Freshdesk, or LiveAgent.

• In-depth knowledge of prompt engineering and generative AI, including hands-on experience with models like Claude, GPT, or equivalent.

• Proficient in using Postman for API testing, test suite management, and environment setup.

• Knowledge of voice AI platforms like Vapi, Bland AI, ElevenLabs, ConnexAI, or Retell AI.

• Strong understanding of JSON data structures, API response parsing, and validation of structured outputs.

• Competence in JavaScript and Python.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in advanced English; knowledge of Spanish is a plus but not required.

• Capacity to work independently while collaborating with technical leads, product managers, and support operations.

• Ability to juggle multiple automation projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.

• Background in Customer Service or Support operations is advantageous.

• Familiarity with LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or AI delegation patterns is an added advantage.
