Afrikaans OPI/VRI Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be ready to take notes during calls.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific vocabulary relevant to the industry you are interpreting for, particularly in healthcare and medical fields.

• Ensure the accurate and complete rendering of all messages, without any additions, omissions, or substitutions.

• Deliver the highest standard of customer service throughout the interpreting process.

• Facilitate communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients by providing precise and comprehensive interpretation of messages.

• Apply established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training programs.

• Show eagerness to obtain new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader regularly.

• Adhere to dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in the source language (English) and a native speaker of the target language "Afrikaans".

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in over-the-telephone interpretation with a reputable interpretation company.

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is advantageous.

• International certifications in the healthcare sector are a plus (such as PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• High school diploma in your native language.

• Possess high emotional intelligence and cultural tolerance.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.
