This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Create original, technically sound free-response problems in aerodynamics.
• Develop questions based on realistic professional and industrial contexts.
• Formulate multi-step problems that include practical constraints, assumptions, aerodynamic trade-offs, and real-world engineering considerations.
• Construct scenarios that encompass external aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, vehicle aerodynamic performance, propulsion, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), experimental testing, and analytical methods.
• Write comprehensive expert-level solutions that document calculations, assumptions, methodologies, and engineering rationale.
• Articulate aerodynamic phenomena and technical decisions in rigorously verified reference answers.
• Evaluate authored problems against various cutting-edge language models.
• Assess AI solutions for reasoning inaccuracies, flawed assumptions, calculation errors, and incomplete technical approaches.
• Enhance problems to ensure they remain appropriately challenging.
• Confirm that questions effectively assess advanced expertise in aerodynamics.
• Engage in engineering problem creation, expert solution formulation, technical validation, and AI model evaluation.
• A PhD in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field is mandatory.
• A PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a strong specialization in aerodynamics or thermofluids may also be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant hands-on professional or industry experience.
• Significant experience in external aerodynamics, CFD, wind tunnel testing, propulsion, or vehicle aerodynamics.
• Strong knowledge of advanced fluid mechanics and aerodynamic analysis.
• Proven experience in resolving complex engineering challenges within professional settings.
• Capability to translate real-world industry challenges into structured technical questions.
• Exceptional analytical reasoning and technical writing abilities.
• Solid practical experience in aerodynamic design, analysis, simulation, or testing.
• Advanced CFD experience is desirable.
• Hands-on experience with wind tunnel testing is a plus.
• Background in vehicle aerodynamics or external flow analysis is advantageous.
• Relevant experience in propulsion within the field of aerodynamic engineering is beneficial.
• Experience in developing or validating aerodynamic models using experimental data is a plus.
• Previous experience in authoring technical assessments, engineering problems, or training materials is favorable.
• Familiarity with AI models or structured technical evaluations is a plus.
• Experience primarily focused on rocket or satellite propulsion, structural or aeroelastic FEM, or wind-load analysis for buildings may not align with the technical scope.
