This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Conduct research on legislation and other policy matters.
• Monitor and address emerging issues related to gender justice, economic security, and civil rights in proposed federal and state legislation or actions by agencies.
• Prepare, draft, and present legislative testimony at both federal and state levels.
• Create and draft materials pertinent to ERA’s key priorities, including reports, one-pagers, presentations, talking points, and more.
• Organize and engage in briefings with Members of Congress, state legislators, and federal or state agency officials and their teams regarding ERA’s key priorities.
• Effectively communicate both orally and in writing with ERA stakeholders as well as internally.
• Build, enhance, and actively participate in national coalitions, partnerships, and taskforces aimed at promoting gender justice, economic security, and civil rights.
• Play a leading and strategic role in national and state coalition campaigns that align with ERA’s priorities, including lobbying, communications, and grassroots outreach.
• Work collaboratively with ERA's attorneys and staff to align policy advocacy efforts with litigation strategies and community outreach initiatives.
• Organize and take part in legislative briefings and virtual webinars/presentations.
• Assist with lobbying, organizing, and campaign efforts of ERA-AF.
• Travel occasionally within the U.S. for legislative hearings, state campaigns, and national gatherings.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in policy advocacy, preferably in gender justice, economic security, or civil rights.
• Proven success in advancing policy at the federal and/or state level.
• Experience working directly with Congress (as a staff member or equivalent) or within a state legislature.
• Established record of collaborating with coalitions, networks, and campaigns, including managing diverse stakeholders and aligning partners towards common objectives.
• Proficient in analyzing regulations and drafting regulatory comments.
• Experience in planning and conducting Congressional or state equivalent in-person and virtual briefings.
• Strong project management, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to transform complex policy into clear and compelling content.
• Strong commitment to gender justice.
• Previous experience with or in partnership with 501(c)(4) advocacy organizations.
• Capability to engage in media interviews and public speaking, including panels and presentations.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for national gatherings, state campaigns, and legislative hearings.
