This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Oversee GPA’s collection of cross-cutting initiatives focused on “AI for good” public goods.
• Facilitate AI collaboration throughout GPA and the wider foundation.
• Act as a definitive point of accountability and decision-making for the AI public goods agenda.
• Create an operational rhythm and decision-making framework for AI public goods.
• Propel public goods deliverables from inception to completion.
• Organize and integrate efforts across GPA teams.
• Shape, manage, and communicate the foundation’s stance on AI.
• Synchronize public-facing AI messaging across Global Communications, program teams, and GPA.
• Refine and connect AI-related content, examples, and proof points for key influence channels and decision-makers.
• Monitor the AI funding landscape among philanthropies, multilaterals, DFIs, corporate sponsors, domestic sources, and emerging AI funding sources.
• Prioritize lists of potential funding opportunities and align them with capital sources and uses.
• Establish prospective fundraising objectives linked to significant moments.
• Develop a structured taxonomy of the AI policy landscape and drive prioritization of engagement.
• Convert policy priorities into actionable policy objectives.
• Manage foundation representation at pivotal AI summits and gatherings.
• Define goals for gatherings in relation to policy and funding objectives.
• Provide support and surge capacity for high-priority announcements through clear ownership in delivery.
• Assemble and align senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Report directly to the Chief of Staff, GPA.
• Extensive substantive knowledge in artificial intelligence, including foundational models, AI policy and advocacy, model development and deployment, open-source ecosystems, safety and governance, as well as implications for public policy and global development.
• Proven experience in translating AI expertise into strategic, policy, investment, or execution decisions.
• Capability to evaluate geopolitical trends, pinpoint emerging risks and opportunities, and engage effectively with leading researchers, technology firms, policymakers, and practitioners.
• Demonstrated skill in providing structure, clarity, and momentum to complex, rapidly changing work, including cross-team and cross-functional coordination.
• Strong judgment in funding/philanthropic and policy areas.
• Background in global health, development, or related policy, financing, or philanthropy.
• Familiarity with donor funding, multilateral organizations, or grantmaking processes.
• In-depth understanding of the AI landscape and its significance for global development.
• Proven ability to thrive in large, matrixed organizations while fostering trusted relationships and coalitions.
• Outstanding communication and synthesis abilities.
• An advanced degree or equivalent demonstrated experience, ideally in international development, law, public policy, or a related field.
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization in the country where this position is based.
