This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design, implement, and optimize advanced control strategies, including Model Predictive Control (MPC), for pipeline systems.
• Create state machines for managing operational modes, establish fail-safe conditions, safety checks, and protective interlocks.
• Develop and execute testing plans to verify controller performance and safety standards, conduct root cause analyses (RCAs), and address errors or undesirable behaviors in both simulation and production settings.
• Develop and assist in maintaining tools for data analysis, system identification, and tuning of empirical and physics-based models.
• Facilitate swift integration and deployment of Crux products by crafting playbooks, standardizing processes, and utilizing the latest engineering tools.
• Ensure that all outputs adhere to the stringent safety and reliability standards necessary for heavy industry environments.
• Build strong, trust-based relationships with operators and technical leads on the client side.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to guarantee a cohesive delivery strategy.
• A Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering or a related field (post-graduate studies in advanced control systems or MPC are preferred).
• Possess a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or be eligible for licensure in Canada.
• Proven experience in control system design, controller tuning, simulation-based testing, data processing and analysis, and system integration.
• Knowledge of system identification processes to create empirical models of input-output relationships.
• Experience in drafting specification documents and technical reports.
• Proficient in Python and version control software (such as GitHub).
• Previous experience or knowledge in the following areas is considered advantageous:
• A solid understanding of hydraulic theory, fluid dynamics, numerical methods, and optimization algorithms/dynamic programming.
• Familiarity with OPC communication protocols and/or SCADA systems.
• Experience with DNV Synergi Pipeline Simulator (SPS) or the Atmos Simulation Suite for conducting transient pipeline simulations.
