This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
β’ Conduct investigations into claims against insurance companies or other entities related to personal, casualty, or property loss or damage.
β’ Strive to achieve out-of-court settlements with claimants.
β’ Independently manage complex local losses up to the specified authority limit.
β’ Provide assistance on larger claims, including those related to business interruption and stock accounting losses.
β’ Review claim forms and documentation to ascertain insurance coverage.
β’ Conduct interviews, make phone calls, or correspond with claimants and witnesses.
β’ Consult police and medical records as necessary.
β’ Assess property damage to evaluate the extent of the company's liability.
β’ Estimate costs for repairs, replacements, or compensation.
β’ Compile findings reports and negotiate settlement agreements.
β’ Recommend legal action through the legal department when negotiations fail to yield a settlement.
β’ Participate in litigation hearings as required.
β’ Update case reserves in assigned claims files.
β’ Assist in the preparation of loss experience reports and in calculating appropriate future rates.
β’ Contribute to the organization's quality programs.
β’ Perform additional duties as assigned.
β’ A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
β’ Must possess the IIA-AIC designation and actively pursue another professional insurance designation.
β’ A valid state adjuster license is required.
β’ A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience is necessary.
β’ Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including effective presentation abilities.
β’ Proficient in PC operations, particularly with Microsoft Office products.
β’ Proven commitment to timely reporting.
β’ Excellent customer service capabilities.
