Adjuster

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Conduct investigations into claims against insurance companies or other entities related to personal, casualty, or property loss or damage.

• Strive to achieve out-of-court settlements with claimants.

• Independently manage complex local losses up to the specified authority limit.

• Provide assistance on larger claims, including those related to business interruption and stock accounting losses.

• Review claim forms and documentation to ascertain insurance coverage.

• Conduct interviews, make phone calls, or correspond with claimants and witnesses.

• Consult police and medical records as necessary.

• Assess property damage to evaluate the extent of the company's liability.

• Estimate costs for repairs, replacements, or compensation.

• Compile findings reports and negotiate settlement agreements.

• Recommend legal action through the legal department when negotiations fail to yield a settlement.

• Participate in litigation hearings as required.

• Update case reserves in assigned claims files.

• Assist in the preparation of loss experience reports and in calculating appropriate future rates.

• Contribute to the organization's quality programs.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.

• Must possess the IIA-AIC designation and actively pursue another professional insurance designation.

• A valid state adjuster license is required.

• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience is necessary.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including effective presentation abilities.

• Proficient in PC operations, particularly with Microsoft Office products.

• Proven commitment to timely reporting.

• High attention to detail and accuracy.

• Effective time management and organizational skills.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
