Ad Valorem Assessment Advisor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more locations.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and rigorously test Jerry’s Florida property tax appeal product.

• Identify product decisions and workflows that may be challenged by the Value Adjustment Board process.

• Clarify the practical implications of Chapter 194, F.S. and DOR uniform rules 12D-9 and 12D-10.

• Detail the differences at the county level among Property Appraiser offices and VABs in key Florida counties.

• Provide guidance on TRIM notice timing, the 25-day filing window, DR-486 and its variants, e-filing versus paper filing, and the §194.014 partial-payment requirement.

• Assist in developing workflows for hearings and evidence that involve comparable selection, 15-day and 7-day evidence exchange windows, and condition-based arguments.

• Consult with the early-stage product team prior to customer-facing production deployment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of direct, hands-on experience in Florida filing residential property tax appeals.

• Personal experience in filing or arguing petitions before a Florida Value Adjustment Board, or serving as a special magistrate to adjudicate them.

• Experience with hundreds of parcels and familiarity with edge cases.

• Comprehensive understanding of each step in the Florida property tax appeals process.

• Knowledge of Chapter 194, F.S. and DOR uniform rules 12D-9 and 12D-10.

• Awareness of county-level distinctions across Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Hillsborough, Orange, Duval, Pinellas, and Lee.

• No existing conflict with another company that is developing consumer property tax appeal software.

• Strong preference for candidates based in Florida.

• Availability for consulting on an hourly, as-needed basis via phone or video.

• Must possess legal authorization to work in the U.S. or Canada.
