Acholi, English OPI/VRI Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be prepared to take notes during a call.

• Maintain knowledge of the specific vocabulary relevant to the industry in which the interpreter operates, particularly in healthcare and medical contexts.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages, without adding, omitting, or substituting any information.

• Deliver the highest standard of customer service during interpretation sessions.

• Facilitate effective communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients by providing precise and complete interpretations of messages.

• Implement established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training sessions.

• Demonstrate eagerness to obtain new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader regularly.

• Adhere to dress code requirements for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in the source language (English) and a native speaker of the target language Acholi.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in over-the-phone interpretation with a reputable interpretation company.

• Strong understanding of medical terminology.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is advantageous.

• International certifications in the healthcare sector are beneficial (e.g., PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• High school diploma in your native language.

• Possess high emotional intelligence and an appreciation for diverse cultures.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.
