Accounts Receivable Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana.

📋 Description

• Maximize revenue collection from both insurers and patients through prompt entry, filing, and follow-up.

• Ensure accurate documentation and correspondence related to patient accounts.

• Educate patients on insurance claims processes.

• Post payments and adjustments while reconciling batches and accounts.

• Timely submission of primary and secondary claims.

• Oversee outstanding insurance accounts, including denials, rejected claims, and payment appeals, addressing them within 30 days.

• Follow up on unresolved claims at least every 30 days.

• Record tasks completed on patient accounts in the EMR system.

• Pursue patient collections for overdue accounts.

• Process charges with accurate diagnoses and modifiers within 48 hours of availability.

• Prepare clean and timely insurance claims.

• Welcome patients in-person or via telephone, assess their needs, and respond appropriately.

• Gather or review demographic and insurance information, including insurance cards.

• Confirm medical insurance coverage and document benefits information.

• Utilize EMR and PM systems with precision.

• Carry out other reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

• At least one year of experience in a medical office or healthcare environment.

• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations.

• Comprehensive understanding of insurance and medical billing processes.

• Familiarity with computer systems.

• Insight into health insurance mechanics and PPO networks.

• Knowledge of medical billing forms, reports, and processing techniques.

• Awareness of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
