Accounting Specialist, Construction Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Process and code invoices from construction vendors, payments to subcontractors, and change orders within the general ledger.

• Regularly reconcile job cost and project accounting sub-ledgers with the general ledger.

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclassifications, and project closeouts.

• Collaborate with Project Managers to gather necessary documentation for invoices, lien waivers, and certified payroll as required.

• Maintain and oversee construction budgets, track commitments, and report any variances.

• Assist with month-end close activities and contribute to the preparation of project-level and consolidated reports.

• Provide support for accounts payable functions, vendor setup, and the preparation of 1099 forms related to construction vendors.

• Aid in enhancing and documenting accounting processes, internal controls, and systems associated with job cost tracking.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience with a proven background in construction or project-based accounting.

• Strong understanding of job cost accounting concepts: WIP, retainage, commitments, change orders, and project closeouts.

• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 100/300, Viewpoint) along with robust spreadsheet skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the capacity to collaborate across teams.

• Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the capability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

• Proficient in analyzing variances, identifying issues, and proposing corrective measures.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; CPA or pursuit of certification is advantageous.
