This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.
• Execute a diverse array of accounting tasks that support the month-end financial statement preparation for WVU Medicine.
• Complete necessary documentation and schedules during month-end close, budget development, and external audits.
• Carry out payroll representative responsibilities for the Accounting and Budgeting departments.
• Assess financial processes to optimize efficiency and ensure adherence to internal controls.
• Investigate and report variance issues to the supervisor or department director/manager.
• Aid construction Project Managers with capital budgeting, purchase commitments, and invoice payments.
• Reconcile invoice payments with purchase commitments and confirm the application of sales/use tax.
• Assist Procure-To-Pay in addressing outstanding purchase commitments and unpaid invoices.
• Analyze and allocate construction payroll to capital projects on a monthly basis.
• Prepare journal entries as required.
• Support the disposal of surplus capital assets.
• Gather financial support documentation for budgeting and external audit purposes.
• Contribute to performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
• Bachelor of Science degree with a major or concentration in Accounting or Finance; OR a high school diploma or equivalent AND five (5) years of experience in project management, accounting, payroll, or accounts payable systems.
• Ability to remain seated for extended durations.
• Proficient in using computers, answering telephones, and operating office machinery including fax machines, copiers, and printers.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Competence in working with computer databases and spreadsheet software.
• Ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Strong investigative skills with the capability to document follow-up actions.
• Willingness to travel between facilities as required.
• Full-time schedule of 40 hours per week.
