This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the complete closing process - establish and oversee the closing calendar, prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations, ensuring a timely and precise period-end close on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Lead the external audit by serving as the primary liaison for auditors, managing PBC lists and inquiries effectively.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements accompanied by comprehensive flux and variance analysis.
• Assist the team on significant accounting projects, including Step’s transition from QuickBooks to NetSuite and the launch of new products.
• Develop, implement, and uphold corporate accounting policies, internal controls, and scalable process documentation.
• Spearhead automation and process enhancement initiatives throughout the accounting function, utilizing the complete tech stack to minimize manual tasks and enhance accuracy.
• Review and ensure quality oversight on the work produced by junior team members and outsourced accounting partners.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments on various projects and requests.
• 5–7 years of accounting experience, ideally with a combination of public and private experience.
• CPA designation (or CPA candidate) with a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP.
• You have independently managed a full-cycle close.
• Proficient in technology, particularly with NetSuite (required) and preferably QBO, Ramp, and Airbase.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• An excellent team player with a positive attitude and mindset.
• Experience in reviewing and supervising the work of others, including junior staff, offshore teams, or outsourced partners.
• Highly organized, proactive, and capable of working autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets, with the ability to manage and analyze large volumes of data.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
