This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Engage in the monthly closing process, adhere to the established timeline, and provide an updated overview of what is organized, what remains manual, and identify where automation can first make a significant impact.
• Assume responsibility for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable from the VP of Finance, while pinpointing the key automation opportunities throughout the financial stack.
• Familiarize yourself with our tools comprehensively—QuickBooks Online, Rippling, Sequence HQ—and develop insights on ERP requirements.
• Cultivate relationships with the Head of FP&A, People, Legal, and Engineering, and map out the accounting interactions within their workflows.
• Collaborate with the Head of FP&A to finalize ERP selection and initiate the implementation process.
• Deliver the first set of automation enhancements—reconciliations, accruals, AP routing—that significantly decrease manual tasks in the close and monthly operations.
• Standardize and document accounting policies that are currently based on informal knowledge (prepaid amortization, fixed assets, materiality thresholds, revenue recognition).
• Maintain a clean and reliable monthly close that earns the trust and utilization of the entire business.
• Execute the ERP implementation and ensure a post-migration close that is quicker, cleaner, and more automated than previous processes.
• Oversee the upcoming audit cycle from start to finish, managing a well-structured PBC process and fostering a strong relationship with auditors.
• Develop the roadmap for the next phase of the accounting function—tools, staffing, and processes—as Clutch continues its growth.
• Propel the accounting function towards achieving a best-in-class standard in fintech, evaluated by close speed, audit preparedness, and automation levels.
• A minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership capacity.
• Experience with ERP implementation—you have either led or played a key role in at least one ERP selection and go-live process.
• Direct ownership of a monthly close process (you have actively managed the process, not merely contributed).
• Experience managing a financial statement audit from start to finish—responsibility for PBC, maintaining auditor relationships, and justifying judgment calls.
• Proficiency in modern accounting automation—you actively seek tools that minimize manual labor rather than increase it.
• Solid technical accounting background: US GAAP, revenue recognition (ASC 606), equity, and compliance across multiple states.
• Skilled in QuickBooks Online or a similar ERP, with the ability to navigate a contemporary fintech ecosystem (Rippling, Sequence HQ, Salesforce).
• High standards for documentation and processes—you create runbooks for others to utilize effectively.
• Exceptional communication skills—you can convey accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders clearly and without jargon.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Remote Flexibility: Enjoy the freedom of remote work from anywhere, balancing life and career seamlessly.
• Unforgettable Off-Sites: Twice a year, bond with colleagues in exciting destinations, fostering teamwork and fresh ideas.
