This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes: preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and flux analysis.
• Establish our accounting framework from the ground up: create a chart of accounts, define close schedules, implement internal controls, and formulate accounting policies.
• Lead the annual audit process and ensure we remain audit-ready throughout the year.
• Handle tax compliance, payroll accounting, and entity-level regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with the Finance, Legal, and People teams to ensure financial operations align with actual business activities.
• Identify and eliminate manual processes: automate where possible and document necessary procedures.
• Eventually recruit and supervise a small team of accountants while remaining actively involved in the work.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including significant tenure at a high-growth SaaS organization.
• Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, including SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606) and equity-based compensation; CPA designation is preferred.
• Proven experience managing a full-cycle close and overseeing external audits from start to finish.
• Comfort in building processes, controls, and policies from scratch without a predefined playbook.
• Experience in managing or mentoring accountants, or a clear readiness to take on such responsibilities.
• Proficient in ERP systems; experience in evaluating or implementing a new ERP system is a significant advantage.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to communicate financial insights to non-accountants effectively.
• Strong judgment on prioritizing tasks — this role requires sequencing initiatives, not just execution.
• Competitive salary and equity compensation.
• Employee-friendly equity arrangements, including early exercise options in the US and extended exercise windows.
• Daily meal and coffee stipend provided on all workdays.
• Paid co-working space or desk allocation.
• Health coverage in accordance with country-specific requirements.
• Five weeks of paid vacation, in addition to local statutory holidays.
• Four months of paid parental leave.
• A paid month off after four years of service, and every two years thereafter.
• Regular team events and off-site gatherings.
• Remote-first work environment with no mandatory commute.
