Accounting Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee targeted cross-functional projects within the Core Business sector to address current control weaknesses and/or enhance operational efficiencies in the month-end closing process.

• Create a comprehensive project plan and effectively communicate project objectives, progress updates, resource requirements, and business outcomes.

• Serve as the liaison between the Operational close teams and stakeholders in Product, Engineering, Financial Platforms, Financial Systems, and Technical Accounting to integrate new products and/or processes into the General Ledger.

• Actively assess existing procedures and identify opportunities for process enhancements to ensure timely monthly closings, accuracy of accounting entries, and operational effectiveness.

• Cultivate extensive knowledge of current accounting practices and propose a strategic approach that balances scalability, effort level, delivery time, financial risk, and cost considerations.

• Collaborate with the Record-to-Report team to identify problematic areas and translate the necessary requirements into report requests with our Financial Systems group.

• Address specific business matters and/or intricate cross-functional challenges as directed by the Director of Core Business.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience is required (public accounting experience is advantageous).

• Strong understanding of US GAAP, with the ability to collaborate with the Technical Accounting team on the implementation and compliance of accounting policies.

• Proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel functionalities (including VLOOKUPS & conditional statements, pivot tables, data analysis, and what-if analysis).

• Experience with SQL or a keen interest in developing SQL skills is preferred.

• Exceptional project management abilities and a talent for promoting cross-functional collaboration to facilitate significant improvements in the closing process.

• A proactive approach to enhancing processes and simplifying your role over time, while taking ownership of all facets of your functional area.

• Enthusiasm for Affirm and a strong interest in technology, financial transactions, BNPL, and consumer lending.
