Accounting Consultant – Founding Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Account Executives to grasp customers’ comprehensive GL and sub-ledger workflows, going beyond mere surface processes.

• Facilitate accounting-focused discovery sessions with Controllers, Accounting Managers, and Finance leaders.

• Assess ERP configurations, closing processes, and accounting policies to identify:

• Workflows that can be seamlessly automated.

• Areas that necessitate configuration or sequencing.

• Elements that should be clearly excluded from scope.

• Establish the essential data access or accounting artifacts (e.g., NetSuite access, reconciliations, schedules) needed to accurately define functionality and pricing.

• Contribute to the design of solutions and pricing by balancing accounting precision, controls, and feasibility of delivery.

• Convert real-world accounting workflows into effective, automated solutions using Maximor.

• Adapt Maximor to conform with customer accounting policies, ERP frameworks, and closing controls.

• Assist in pilot programs and early implementations with a strong emphasis on:

• Accuracy.

• Integrity of reconciliations.

• Readiness for audits.

• Collaborate with the Engineering and Accounting teams to clarify accounting logic, edge cases, and anticipated outputs.

• Ensure that what was established during pre-sale discovery is accurately delivered in production.

• Serve as the internal accounting authority, working alongside Product and Engineering to influence roadmap decisions.

• Identify recurring accounting patterns, edge cases, and constraints observed across various customers.

• Assist in defining discovery, scoping, and implementation playbooks as Maximor scales.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7–10+ years of accounting experience (in a combination of Public + Private Accounting, Technical advisory + Private Accounting, or Private Accounting + Solutions).

• Ability to articulate both the detailed accounting aspects and the technology that underpins them fluently.

• Practical experience with multiple enterprise ERP systems, ideally at least a few such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or Oracle Fusion.

• Familiarity with close management tools like FloQast or BlackLine.

• Hands-on experience with sub-ledgers including Revenue recognition (ASC 606), Fixed assets, Prepaids/amortization, Accruals, and more.

• Solid understanding of accounting controls and audit considerations.

• Proficient in Excel (handling large datasets, reconciliations, pivot tables, and complex formulas).

• Comfortable leading discovery and demonstration sessions with Controllers, Accounting Managers, and Finance leaders.

• Capable of making informed judgment calls when dealing with incomplete or messy data.

• Passionate about working at the intersection of accounting and technology, thriving in early-stage environments.

• Big-4 experience (Nice to Haves).

• CPA or equivalent certification (Nice to Haves).

• Experience in scoping or delivering accounting automation projects (Nice to Haves).
