This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accountable for reviewing and approving monthly and quarterly account reconciliations prepared by the Global Staff Accountant to mitigate risks and ensure precise reporting and ledger management.
• Tasked with reviewing and approving medium to high risk journal entries submitted by the Global Staff Accountant.
• Serve as the primary escalation contact for Sysco entities regarding the assigned balance sheet accounts.
• Hold overall responsibility for the month-end task list, which includes BPC reporting packages for financial consolidation on designated accounts and entities, ensuring all period close activities are completed punctually and accurately.
• Regularly participate in key stakeholder meetings to discuss ongoing risks and formulate action plans for resolution.
• Evaluate and propose modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
• Conduct analytics on key accounts to facilitate resolution, enhance review efficiencies, provide visibility across entities, and minimize overall risk.
• Responsible for comprehending and applying the Financial & Accounting Methods Manual (FAMM) while suggesting necessary additions and/or updates.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests.
• Review and offer feedback to the SBS Global team on Reconciliations, Journal Entries, and other assigned tasks.
• Review and endorse SOPs prepared by Global Staff Accountants, ensuring the accuracy of existing SOPs and aiding in revisions when necessary.
• Mentor new Accounting Analysts at SBS and Staff Accountants within the SBS Global team regarding Sysco Accounting processes and culture.
• Propose process enhancements and collaborate with upstream process owners to streamline end-to-end operations.
• Support the Accounting Team Lead in overall team management as required.
• Undertake special projects as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with departmental goals/metrics, Internal Audit reports, and SLAs.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Accounting or a related field is required.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Proven ability to analyze and reconcile reports effectively.
• Capable of identifying and resolving discrepancies.
• Proficient in cross-functional collaboration to address issues.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office and specialized accounting/finance software.
• Experience with ERP Systems (e.g., Workday).
