This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Approximately 85% of your work hours will be dedicated to ongoing financial accounting: accurate, compliant, and well-organized.
• Execute daily accounting tasks: recording, categorizing, and reconciling all business transactions in alignment with the German Commercial Code (HGB).
• Conduct account and bank reconciliations — ensuring reliability and timeliness.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable: handling incoming and outgoing invoices and payments.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements along with financial reports.
• Prepare for the annual financial statements and collaborate with external tax advisors and auditors.
• Ensure adherence to tax regulations, particularly concerning VAT returns.
• Assist with payroll accounting and related HR administrative duties.
• Maintain an audit-proof and organized document filing system.
• Support the Head of Finance in financial planning, budgeting, and ad-hoc analyses.
• Aid in financial management and monitoring of our expanding ISA portfolio.
• Contribute to operational and administrative finance functions as the organization evolves.
• Participate in the development and enhancement of our financial processes.
• Completed vocational training or a degree in a commercial field, such as Accountant, Financial Accountant, Tax Clerk, Business Administrator, Business Administration (BWL), or an equivalent commercial qualification.
• At least 2 years of full-time professional experience in accounting (or an equivalent role).
• Strong knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB) and tax regulations.
• Experience with VAT returns and preparation of annual financial statements.
• Proficient user of accounting software (e.g., DATEV, Lexoffice, Sevdesk, or similar).
• Excellent skills in spreadsheet applications (Excel / Google Sheets).
• Native-level German (C2) and at least B2 level proficiency in English.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and a structured working approach.
• Capability to work independently and manage priorities responsibly.
