Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Accountable for aiding in the creation and upkeep of precise financial data for designated areas of the general ledger;

• Conducts general ledger account analysis, reconciliations, and financial statements for the Regional Health Ministry (“RHM”) and Market Record to Report (“R2R”) shared services sector.

• Exhibits problem-solving abilities related to healthcare financial operations and possesses knowledge of external, regulatory, payor, and other influences affecting healthcare financial operations including US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”) and various regulatory reporting obligations, IRS regulations, etc.

• Stays informed about new industry trends and standards.

• Establishes and nurtures positive relationships with leaders from HM, Service Area, Trinity Health, and associated entities, demonstrating the capacity to maintain confidentiality when necessary.

• Responds to information requests.

• Aids the Manager with tasks related to both internal and external audits during the periodic review of financial records and financial statements, including Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (grants; “Uniform Guidance” or “Single Audit”) alongside other RHM-specific audit needs.

• Ensures timely execution of agreed-upon recommendations pertinent to areas of responsibility arising from audit findings.

• Assists in the annual 990 and other tax returns, as well as gathering financial data to support community benefit reporting.

• Aids in the preparation of sales and use tax reporting, local personal property tax reporting, annual escheatment of unclaimed property reporting, mandatory government surveys, and other assigned reports.

• Completes special projects, financial analyses, and research.

• Prepares monthly accounting entries, including necessary support, for entry into the PeopleSoft G/L system (or current general ledger system) for designated entities and accounts in line with established deadlines.

• Reconciles, analyzes, and adjusts general ledger accounts in accordance with established timelines.

• Guarantees that accurate details support workpaper reconciliations.

• Assists in finalizing the year-end financial reporting package and in the preparation of year-end audit work papers and financial statement footnote disclosures.

• Secures the relevant supporting documentation for the audit schedules.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.

• Understanding of US GAAP and performing financial analysis, including experience in researching and resolving accounting issues.

• Treasury experience is preferred.

• A minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience is preferred.

• Exposure to healthcare is advantageous.

• Experience with various computer accounting systems and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite is required.
