This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise accounting functions, encompassing accounts payable, payroll, general ledger upkeep, and inter-account bank transfers.
• Guarantee prompt and precise data entry and documentation in alignment with GAAP standards.
• Oversee payroll processing, which entails reviewing, approving, and ensuring adherence to labor regulations.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of financial accounts, including bank statements and investment records.
• Manage grants and donations, ensuring accurate tracking, allocation, and reporting.
• Responsible for disbursing funds to vendors and field staff outside the USA.
• Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, such as balance sheets and income statements.
• Assist in the formulation and monitoring of the annual budget, participating in financial planning and analysis to support strategic organizational objectives.
• Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
• Work collaboratively with the Senior Accounting & Office Manager to execute financial strategies.
• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, is mandatory.
• A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, with a proven track record in nonprofit accounting is required.
• Proficiency in both English and Spanish is essential.
• Fluency in an Indigenous language is highly advantageous.
• Lived or professional experience supporting Indigenous communities is strongly preferred, though not obligatory.
• Knowledge of grant compliance and accounting standards is necessary.
• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, along with outstanding interpersonal and communication capabilities.
• Maintain professionalism and discretion when managing sensitive information.
• Proficient in accounting software, with a preference for Sage Intacct.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time for Cultural Survival events.
