This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Analyze and document financial transactions in the general ledger, using independent judgment to guarantee accuracy, completeness, and adherence to nonprofit accounting standards.
• Accurately classify transactions within our multi-dimensional chart of accounts.
• Assist with closing processes and support internal and external audits, applying professional judgment to pinpoint areas for enhancement in internal controls.
• Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other accounts, utilizing discretion to identify and rectify discrepancies.
• Maintain inventory records, providing suggestions for improvement.
• Oversee the accounts payable (AP) cycle from invoice receipt to payment, including corporate credit card expense management.
• Monitor bank accounts for received donations and manage a limited volume of invoicing.
• Perform administrative tasks related to the 403(b) plan.
• Manage 1099 vendors and contractors, which includes drafting and fulfilling contracts in collaboration with our legal team.
• Facilitate the use of AI-assisted and automated finance workflows (e.g., expense processing tools, dashboard and reporting automations) as part of daily accounting operations.
• Handle sensitive information with integrity and honesty, ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
• Assist with special projects and additional tasks as assigned.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience required.
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online/Intuit Enterprise Suite or a similar accounting software with a multi-dimensional chart of accounts.
• Comfortable utilizing AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to enhance accounting workflows.
• Professional demeanor with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
• A high degree of computer proficiency is essential, including expertise in Microsoft Office and Google Docs, with advanced skills in spreadsheets (Excel and/or G-Sheets).
