This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Act as a reliable daily partner for clients, nurturing relationships with confidence and care.
• Spearhead media and digital communication strategies, which include:
• Crafting compelling story angles, messaging, and narrative frameworks.
• Pitching to journalists and editors effectively.
• Achieving media coverage, op-eds, interviews, and placements in thought leadership.
• Identifying opportunities to amplify media moments across digital, social, and owned channels.
• Create and refine high-quality written materials, such as:
• Media pitches and press releases.
• Op-eds and contributed articles.
• Talking points, speeches, and briefing documents.
• Communications strategies, media plans, and digital content.
• LinkedIn posts, executive thought leadership pieces, newsletter content, website language, and social media content as required.
• Provide support for media training and message development for executives and subject-matter experts.
• Guide clients on how to leverage earned media, digital platforms, social content, and owned channels to achieve strategic objectives.
• Work collaboratively with internal team members to ensure strategic coherence and flawless execution.
• Handle multiple client priorities with clarity, responsiveness, and composure under pressure.
• Contribute ideas that enhance client impact and help evolve Newton Street’s service offerings.
• Monitor and analyze media and digital performance, providing clear reports that evaluate message effectiveness, narrative impact, and opportunities for amplification.
• Keep track of media, digital, and social trends, as well as emerging news, to identify timely pitching opportunities and position clients within relevant public discussions.
• 6–8 years of experience in public relations, strategic communications, media relations, or integrated communications.
• Proven track record of securing earned media coverage, op-eds, and thought leadership placements.
• Strong comprehension of journalists' operations, what constitutes a newsworthy story, and how to extend media moments via digital and social channels.
• Outstanding writing and editing abilities—clear, persuasive, and intentional.
• Experience working within or alongside PR agencies, foundations, or organizations focused on social impact or policy.
• Knowledge of one or more key issue areas: climate, global health, women’s health, mental health, economic opportunity, or philanthropy.
• Capability to manage multiple projects without compromising quality or judgment.
• Responsive and proactive while operating in a remote office environment.
• Experience collaborating across teams and with other partners or agencies.
• Technologically adept and proactive, with strong organizational and teamwork skills.
• Comfortable working in global or multicultural settings.
