This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Create a fundraising and engagement strategy along with a plan for executing integrated approaches as needed.

• Cultivate and manage client relationships through regular meetings, calls, and consistent communication.

• Lead and engage in live meetings, including Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs); prepare meeting materials with support from account teams.

• Collaborate with clients to identify organizational objectives and devise strategies to achieve goals.

• Develop clients’ annual communication calendars and budgets.

• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of client’s internal processes and resources to generate ideas that enhance overall performance.

• Conduct in-depth analysis of campaign and segment performance as well as KPI data, creating data-driven strategies to tackle program challenges and capitalize on successes.

• Establish trusting, respectful, and collaborative relationships with clients and colleagues, ensuring teamwork across the broader team (including external resources) and promoting a positive team environment.

• Keep fundraising and engagement best practices at the forefront of all efforts.

• Provide risk assessment and management for all aspects of the client relationship.

• Oversee a matrixed team of technical and client service personnel to guarantee that all deliverables meet deadlines and quality standards.

• Create professional goals and a development plan for individual team members, assisting them in achieving goals through regular meetings and ongoing feedback.

• Recognize and utilize work experiences as training and development opportunities for teammates.

• Balance strategic and tactical plans with client business goals and scope/contract deliverables.

• Manage client scope, including key deliverables and ad hoc billing (creative, etc.), within the contracted retainer.

• Participate in webinars and attend conferences/workshops to enhance skills.

• Assist with ad hoc agency initiatives such as case studies, developing internal documents/processes, and internal staff education/information sharing.

• Support new business development through proposal contributions, estimating scope of work, and engaging in presentations.

• Take part in the hiring process for new employees, including interviews and assessments.

• Attend monthly management meetings.

• Perform other duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates who excel in this role typically possess 8-10 years of direct response experience (direct mail or digital account management), ideally with direct response fundraising in an agency context.

• Proven track record in client management and customer service.

• Ability to forge enduring professional relationships with clients.

• Experience in managing technical and client services teams, some of whom may operate in a virtual/remote setting.

• Background in developing and implementing long-term fundraising strategies.

• Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.

• Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

• Advanced written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively presenting information, responding to inquiries from clients and colleagues, and conveying technical details to a non-technical audience.

• Keen attention to detail.

• Highly self-driven and motivated.

• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.

• Familiarity with online constituent relationship management systems (eCRM) for nonprofits such as Convio/Blackbaud, Engaging Networks, EveryAction, and Salesforce; content management systems (both open source and proprietary); email marketing platforms; HTML, CSS, and other web development tools; and knowledge of digital advertising, Google Grant management, and SEO/SEM.

• Understanding of direct mail audiences and metrics, along with a broad comprehension of the implementation process.
