This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead accessibility evaluations across the Design System and development workflow
• Identify common components and systemic challenges contributing to accessibility issues
• Detect and address high-impact accessibility concerns in reusable components and patterns
• Create and uphold a framework for prioritizing accessibility challenges based on user impact, severity, frequency, architectural reach, remediation effort, and compliance risk
• Direct backlog prioritization and engineering resource allocation
• Collaborate with UX, engineering, QA, and client accessibility stakeholders
• Resolve intricate accessibility challenges and facilitate technical discussions with delivery teams
• Work within the Design System platform and codebase to pinpoint gaps and enhance components
• Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA compliance across practical implementations
• Enhance accessibility testing within CI/CD pipelines using tools like axe-core, Pa11y, ANDI, or similar
• Mentor and elevate the skills of QA, engineering, design, and delivery teams
• Integrate accessibility throughout the product development lifecycle to prevent defects from reaching production
• Act as a technical leader for accessibility modernization initiatives supporting the Enterprise Copyright System project
• Bachelor's degree and over 5 years of pertinent professional experience
• Relevant experience may be substituted for educational qualifications
• Professional background in digital accessibility, web development, software quality assurance, UX engineering, or a similar technical field
• Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 standards
• Practical experience assessing web applications using both automated and manual accessibility testing techniques
• Experience with assistive technologies such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, or comparable tools
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with software engineering, design, product, and QA teams
• Knowledge of modern web technologies and insight into how HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and component-based design influence accessibility
• Comprehensive understanding of contemporary web accessibility standards
• Capability to identify systemic accessibility challenges
• Skill in developing scalable strategies to minimize recurring defects
• Excellent communication abilities and the capacity to navigate complex technical discussions
• Experience working across engineering, design, QA, and product teams in modern software development settings
• Ability to mentor teams and weave accessibility into the software development lifecycle
