Youth Conservation Crew Member

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Engage in a three-week Virtual Youth Conservation Program in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service

• Participate in virtual lessons and curriculum activities

• Discover career opportunities in Green STEM fields

• Allocate time for project planning activities

• Gain insights into climate resilience

• Investigate fire-dependent ecology and its management

• Learn the techniques of wildfire mapping

• Delve into the history of public lands and the relationship between humans and the environment

• Understand and practice Leave No Trace principles

• Engage in career and professional development activities

• Acquire skills in environmental organizing and advocacy

• Enhance time management and self-care competencies

• Take part in leadership training programs

• Participate in service learning and self-directed hands-on projects

⛳️ Requirements

• Applicants must be at least 15 years old by June 1 of the program year and not exceed 18 years old before August 31 of the program year

• Must be currently enrolled in high school or a graduating class of 2024

• Candidates must be able to fully commit to the program dates and meeting schedules

• Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the assigned work with or without reasonable accommodations

• Must possess a valid U.S. Social Security number or have applied for one prior to the start of the program

• Must be able to secure a work permit if required

• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents
