Youth Conservation Crew Member

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Engage in a Virtual Youth Conservation Program in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service.

• Participate in virtual lessons and curriculum centered on Green STEM career pathways.

• Complete practical environmental projects.

• Investigate environmental resilience, fire-dependent ecology and management, wildfire mapping, and the relationship between humans and nature.

• Acquire knowledge of Leave No Trace principles.

• Involve yourself in career and professional development, time management, self-care, and leadership training.

• Take part in service learning, mentorship, and hands-on projects.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must be at least 15 years old by June 1 of the program year and no older than 18 years old before August 31 of the program year.

• Applicants must be enrolled in high school or a graduating class of 2027.

• Participants must be able to fully commit to the program schedule and meeting times.

• Participants must be capable of performing essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

• A valid U.S. Social Security number is required, or applicants must have applied for one by the start of the program.

• Must be able to obtain a work permit if necessary.

• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

• Commitment of 3 weeks; 5 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

• Hours are determined by the participant's time zone.
