This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Engage in a 3-week Virtual Youth Conservation Program in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service
• Attend daily online lessons and educational curriculum
• Discover Green STEM career pathways
• Participate in dedicated project planning sessions
• Delve into subjects such as climate resilience, fire-dependent ecology and management, wildfire mapping, public lands history, Leave No Trace principles, career and professional growth, environmental advocacy, time management, self-care, and leadership development
• Take part in service learning activities and self-directed hands-on projects
• Must be at least 15 years old by June 1 of the program year and cannot exceed 18 years of age before August 31 of the program year
• Must be enrolled in high school or be a graduate of the class of 2024
• Must be able to fully commit to the program schedule and meeting times
• Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the assigned tasks with or without reasonable accommodations
• Must possess a valid U.S. Social Security number or have applied for one by the program's start date
• Must be able to secure a work permit if necessary
• Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident
• Earn a weekly stipend of $250 for participation
• Receive technical support and assistance with equipment
• Enhance collaboration and leadership abilities
• Collaborate with fellow high school students from across the nation
• Learn about and contribute to the protection of natural resources
• Gain insights into careers in cultural and natural resource management
• Opportunity to earn service learning hours
