This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
• Engage in the Virtual Youth Conservation Program in collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service
• Attend online lessons and curriculum workshops
• Discover Green STEM career pathways
• Allocate time for project planning activities
• Delve into subjects such as climate resilience, fire-dependent ecology and management, wildfire mapping, the history of public lands, Leave No Trace principles, career and professional development, environmental organizing and advocacy, time management and self-care, and leadership training
• Take part in service learning activities and self-directed hands-on projects
• Must be at least 15 years old by June 1 of the program year and not exceed 18 years old before August 31 of the program year
• Must be currently enrolled in high school or be a graduate of the class of 2024
• Must be able to fully commit to the program schedule and meeting times
• Must be capable of performing essential functions of the assigned work with or without reasonable accommodations
• Possess a valid U.S. Social Security number or have applied for one by the program's start date
• Must be able to secure a work permit if necessary
• Must be a citizen of the United States or a permanent resident
• Receive a weekly stipend of $250 for participation
• Access to technical support and equipment assistance
• Enhance collaboration and leadership skills
• Connect with fellow high school students from across the nation
• Explore and learn methods to protect natural resources
• Gain insights into careers in cultural and natural resource management
• Opportunity to earn service learning hours
