Wildlife Biologist – On-Call

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Assist in the delivery of California's most essential surface transportation projects in the Central Coast region.

• Emphasize impact analysis related to biological and aquatic resources, particularly focusing on technical writing.

• Perform biological compliance monitoring during ongoing construction activities.

• Conduct surveys for special-status wildlife and nesting avian species.

• Create technical reports to document the outcomes of surveys and monitoring efforts.

• Develop additional biological technical reports or permit application packages as necessary.

• Foster and sustain strong relationships with AECOM, clients, and construction teams.

• Organize project documentation and monitor project timelines.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related environmental science discipline.

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent experience and/or education in biological surveys and monitoring in California.

• A valid U.S. Driver License is mandatory for this role.

• Independent travel will be necessary.

• U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.

• Preference for candidates with 4+ years of relevant experience.

• Familiarity with common and special-status wildlife species in California.

• Experience in surveying and monitoring special-status and protected species that may inhabit Central California.

• Proven technical writing skills with a track record of producing clear, concise, and accurate documentation.

• Ability to identify plant species in Central Coast California.

• Experience in conducting aquatic resources delineations is preferred but not mandatory.

• Significant experience supporting transportation projects is desirable but not essential.
