This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Identify and source software companies that align with our acquisition criteria and key performance indicators.
• Develop and implement targeted outreach campaigns through email and outbound calls, consistently testing innovative business development strategies, while managing a high volume of deal opportunities.
• Establish and nurture relationships with potential acquisition targets and sell-side investment banks that specialize in mergers and acquisitions.
• Conduct initial assessments of potential acquisitions, which include operational and financial evaluations, as well as the appraisal of opportunities and risks.
• Oversee and drive a robust transaction pipeline, ensuring it remains up-to-date with new targets and information, while working alongside a dynamic, high-performing, and motivated team.
• Execute sector analyses and market research to identify trends and discover new acquisition opportunities.
• Review and analyze investment documents, distilling large quantities of data into clear, concise, and actionable analyses, presentations, and recommendations.
• Advance acquisition opportunities independently by managing the transaction scope and sustaining momentum throughout the process, gaining exposure to the complete deal lifecycle from sourcing to execution.
• Effectively prioritize and delegate tasks based on transaction timelines and strategic significance.
• Provide on-demand analytical and operational support to the broader team as required.
• Collaborate across functions to assist with data requests, due diligence, internal alignment, and successful transaction execution.
• 2–3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity (PE), or corporate development is required.
• Previous M&A transaction experience in the software sector is essential.
• Exceptional academic performance from a top-tier institution.
• An undergraduate degree in business administration or a related field is advantageous.
• Professional maturity and comfort in engaging with C-level executives (C-suite).
• Highly proactive, self-directed, and motivated, with strong sales and communication abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated capacity for leadership.
• A solid foundation in accounting principles and financial modeling.
• Good understanding of software company business models and the M&A transaction lifecycle.
• Strong analytical skills, a sharp instinct for identifying trends, and advanced proficiency in Excel.
