This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with production teams to conceptualize, write, edit, publish, program, and disseminate news videos across the USA TODAY Network's digital channels.
• Monitor and track updates and developments on assigned projects.
• Maintain effective communication with video team leaders, the National News Desk, USA TODAY editors, writers, reporters, and local network affiliates.
• Edit and produce videos covering nationally important news, trending topics, explanatory pieces, and social media content.
• Acquire video footage and information from USA TODAY Network properties for production purposes.
• Keep an eye on social media and third-party content sources to spot viral moments.
• Craft metadata to enhance audience engagement.
• Conduct remote interviews for concise storytelling.
• Program and distribute live and on-demand videos within articles, playlists, social media, and other platforms.
• Analyze digital metrics and make informed programming and optimization choices.
• Oversee video platforms across desktop, mobile web, apps, and social media channels.
• Undertake additional essential responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in journalism or a related field, or a comparable mix of education and experience.
• 2–4 years of experience in local or national newsrooms, either in television or digital formats, and/or relevant video news experience.
• Proficiency in social media and creating videos for platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and FAST channels.
• Strong journalism capabilities and sound editorial judgment.
• Capacity to work independently, manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
• Familiarity with established editorial style guidelines.
• Skill in crafting compelling headlines and video metadata.
• Knowledge of SEO principles relevant to video metadata.
• Experience using video analytics tools like Google Analytics or Parse.ly.
• Minimum of 2 years of proficiency with Adobe Premiere and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Basic technical knowledge of video systems and operations.
• Understanding of video rights management.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Willingness to work morning shifts on Eastern Time, including weekends.
• Flexibility in scheduling for breaking news and potential overtime.
