This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Create, revise, and finalize online content, such as database entries, user manuals, and web pages, while coordinating approvals with FHWA contacts and external stakeholders as necessary.
• Write and edit material for websites, SharePoint, and Google Sites pages in accordance with the TFHRC RD&T Communication Reference Guide, GPO Style Manual, and Chicago Manual of Style.
• Utilize Drupal, SharePoint, and Google Sites to upload, refresh, and publish web content, ensuring optimization for SEO and Section 508 accessibility.
• Design and produce graphics optimized for web usage, ensuring proper resolution, sizing, and file formats.
• Oversee and monitor quarterly content certifications while addressing broken links and other maintenance requirements.
• Track web pages to confirm that scheduled updates are implemented and suggest enhancements to readability, organization, and navigation.
• Create training materials and facilitate both in-person and virtual training sessions for FHWA staff on web content and database tools.
• Ensure quality control for online content and database entries, which includes editing dropdown values, cleaning data, and testing new functionalities.
• 5–7 years of experience in managing web content, including at least 3 years within the past 5 years.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
• Proficient in using Drupal, SharePoint, or Google Sites for web publishing and maintenance.
• Experience in the transportation industry, especially in highway or surface transportation research, is highly preferred.
• Strategic mindset regarding marketing trends and technologies.

• Capability to handle competing deadlines effectively.
• Experience in supporting intricate projects and transformation initiatives within the federal government.
• Comfort in managing complex client relationships.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
