WC Claims Specialist, Floater

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Process Workers’ Compensation claims, verify policy coverage, and acknowledge claims.

• Assess the validity and compensability of claims.

• Set reserves and authorize payments within the limits of reserving authority.

• Oversee non-complex lost-time workers’ compensation claims under close supervision.

• Update customers, claimants, and clients on claim status.

• Follow client and carrier guidelines.

• Engage in claims reviews as necessary.

• Support claims professionals with more complex or challenging claims.

• Adhere to safety rules and regulations during working hours.

• Perform additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.

• At least 1 year of experience in the industry.

• SIP experience is a requirement.

• Must maintain a current license or certification in Workers’ Compensation throughout employment with CorVel.

• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

• Experience with 4850 and Ed-Code is preferred.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to learn quickly and develop a thorough understanding of claims practices.

• Proficient in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems.

• Computer skills and technical proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Excel spreadsheets.

• Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.

• Ability to meet or exceed performance competencies.

• Capable of working independently and as part of a team.

• Must reside in California.
